The origin of our food has its humble beginnings in the streets of 1980's Jinju, South Korea. The matriarch of our family, Panyeon Lee, opened a small bulgogi restaurant in Jinju, which was at the time, a small but tight-knit community of mostly farmers and factory workers. Through hard work and passion, Panyeon Lee was able to grow her restaurant into a cornerstone of the community. She liked to credit her success to her being blessed with a good “손맛” (the literal translation is akin to “hand flavor”), but would admit to her family that she believed that her food was so well enjoyed by her customers due to a simple but powerful philosophy; if we pour love into the food we make, someone will love it back.

Here at Bulgogi Box, we maintain many of Panyeon Lee’s recipes to this day - but more importantly, we aim to continue cooking with Panyeon Lee’s philosophy with the hope that our customers will love our food back.
